Mistletoe Infusion Therapy
The green force against cancer
The treatment with mistletoe compounds has a millennia-old tradition and today is more relevant than ever, as an intensive and effective means to fight diseases and also to stimulate the self-healing powers, as well as to strengthen the immune system and destroy the tumors.
Mistletoe acts on the immune system by stimulating B cells, T cells, cytokines, granulocytes, natural killer cells, monocytes and macrophages.
At the Hyperthermia Centre Hannover we have been using mistletoe therapy for many years as infusions alone or as an adjunct to chemotherapy or radiotherapy for breast, ovarian, colorectal and brain tumors. We were able to see how this medicinal plant, as infusion, alleviates the symptoms of cancer or chemotherapy, and how the growth of cancer cells slows down - or completely destroys cancer cells. The emotional well-being as well as the physical activity and concentration ability of the patients could be increased.
Mistletoe therapy is either subcutaneous or infused, with an infusion lasting 60 minutes.
The number of infusions and the duration of the therapy will be carefully and individually prescribed to the patient and his medical history at the Hyperthermia Centre Hannover.
Side effects of subcutaneous injections may include mild local redness, swelling, or itching. These reactions usually pass quickly and without complications.
The mistletoe infusions have a regulating and stimulating effect on the heat organism. For this reason, an accompanying whole-body hyperthermia can be useful.
The immuno-effective mechanisms of mistletoe compounds in complementary cancer therapy have been scientifically proven in more than 130 clinical studies. Mistletoe lectins and visco toxins trigger tumor cell toxicity in the sense of increased apoptosis of tumor cells and tumor necrosis.
