Exchange on innovative cancer therapies

From February 9 to 12, 2026, Dubai hosted the World Health Expo (WHX), one of the world's most important trade fairs for medical technology and health innovations. In addition, WHX is a global network that promotes medical innovation and international cooperation. For oncology and forward-looking forms of therapy such as medical hyperthermia, it offers valuable impetus in the areas of medical technology, networking, and strategic development.

Dr. Mohamed Ali Zayen, Medical Director of the Hyperthermia Center Hannover, was on site to learn about the latest technological developments in cancer treatment and to cultivate international professional contacts.

His visit focused on modern therapeutic approaches, in particular the promising combination of hyperthermia and laser therapy. Numerous discussions with experts from the fields of medicine, research, and industry focused on current studies, technological advances, and clinical experience with these complementary procedures.

The professional exchange at WHX 2026 underscores the Hyperthermia Center Hannover's commitment to continuously developing innovative and scientifically sound treatment concepts and promptly incorporating international findings into its own clinical work.

The World Health Expo (WHX) is considered the world's largest network of healthcare events. With 15 international events on several continents, it brings together leading experts, companies, policy makers, and innovators to actively shape the future of global healthcare.

“For oncology—and especially for specialized forms of therapy such as medical hyperthermia—such a platform offers valuable impetus,” explains Dr. Mohamed Zayen.

A global forum for medical innovation

The WHX connects people, governments, companies, and scientific institutions on an international level. Among other things, it focuses on advances in medical technology, digital health solutions and artificial intelligence, clinical innovations, new therapeutic approaches in oncology, and international cooperation in healthcare.

Oncological innovations in an international context

“Modern oncology is undergoing dynamic change,” explains Dr. Zayen. “In addition to established procedures such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, complementary and adjuvant therapies are becoming increasingly important. Medical hyperthermia is an important example of a technology-based form of therapy.”

In the field of specialized oncological procedures in particular, interdisciplinary and international dialogue is crucial for further developing quality, safety, and evidence.

Medical technology and device innovation

The WHX has traditionally been strongly influenced by medical technology companies presenting new devices and technical solutions. The following are particularly relevant for oncology:

•    Advances in imaging techniques

•    More precise therapy planning through digital systems

•    Improved energy and temperature control in thermal therapies

•    Combination technologies for multimodal treatment strategies

Innovations in these areas can also influence hyperthermic applications in the long term, for example through optimized monitoring systems or improved technical control.

International networking as a quality factor. As a global network with 15 international events, the WHX enables participants to look beyond national healthcare systems. International scientific exchange is particularly important in specialized forms of therapy such as hyperthermia, as evidence-based data, clinical studies, and guidelines are often developed and discussed across national borders.

New opportunities for cancer therapy

Dr. Mohamed Zayen draws a positive conclusion from the World Health Expo in Dubai:

“For oncology and technology-based procedures such as medical hyperthermia, international exchange provides valuable impetus in the areas of medical technology, networking, and strategic development. International health congresses contribute to the continuous improvement of modern cancer therapies and open up new opportunities for research, clinical application, and ultimately for my patients.”
